Brennen booked me for planning after hearing about me from a friend (Thanks, Brooke ;)) A few weeks into working together, Brennen calls me. “I don’t want to do the traditional, big wedding thing,” she said. She explained how difficult it was to plan a date around her fiance’s residency schedule – anyone else relate?! She said her and Franklin just wanted to do something different.
Fast forward to a sunny October morning in Charleston, SC and Brennen & Franklin had the intimate, romantic wedding day they’d dreamed of. A total of 12 chairs were set up at Cypress Gardens for the ceremony. Brennen arrived to walk down the aisle by boat, approaching the dock with her dad waiting to give her away. Her mom watched from the shore tearfully, their only daughter getting ready to start the rest of her life with her person. The processional music played on a bluetooth speaker, then Brennen’s dad officiated the ceremony. Family members including parents, siblings, grandparents took turns standing to share their favorite memories of the couple. I’ve been part of plenty of wedding days, some with 30 people and some with 300, and while wedding days with larger guest counts are quite the celebration (and I love them, of course!!) I can guarantee one thing: you can’t have what Brennen & Franklin did with a large guest count. The photos below prove that.
The ceremony ended, family photos were captured, then Brennen & Franklin took their first walk as husband and wife through the gardens and down by the dock. Meanwhile, our team was busy at Church & Union Charleston on their back garden patio, setting up the reception and making sure all of the little details Brennen so delicately thought of were set and ready to go. Upon arrival, Brennen quickly changed into a 2nd dress, and off she went with her new husband to stroll the streets of Charleston. Back at Church & Union, appetizers and cocktails were served. After photos, the newlyweds shared their first dance, their parents made speeches, and dinner began.
Brennen & Franklin, what a treasure it was to work with you and serve you on your wedding day. I’m forever thankful Brennen made that phone call to me many months ago and dared to do something different and special for the two of you. I can’t wait to continue working with you as we plan your 1st anniversary celebration for 2023! Cheers to Mr. & Mrs. Irvin!
